OSU Pokes Preview: FU Travis

Posted by Boo Radley on January 29th, 2010 under Basketball

I hate Travis Ford. I mean really hate him. I know we were going on probation. I know Rick Pitino and his home state school came a calling. I get all that blah, blah, blah. Doesn’t make it any better. See Travis Ford was my favorite Tiger in 1989. He was on the Big Eight Conference All Freshman team. He hit a monster game winner up in Ames. He was going to be the point guard

Mizzou/Okie State Post-Mortem: The Limping

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on October 18th, 2009 under Football

Interesting day in the Big 12 North. To recap, here are your winners: Kansas State, Iowa State, Colorado. Here are your losers: Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas. So much for the Haves v. Have Nots. Kansas State sits in the driver's seat now with two wins in the conference. Whodathunkit? Nebraska got rolled, which didn't come as a surprise. As good as Suh is, NU's offense is that bad. Mike Patrick, maybe the worst play-by-play

Eye on The Cowboys (and Cowgirls)

Posted by JR Slim on October 16th, 2009 under Football

Just hang with me one more week fellow Tiger kool-aid drinkers.  Don't hop off the bandwagon just yet. Our hopes and dreams for a North Division title may be on life-support, but they are still alive.  In fact, if the Tigers and Red Raiders take care of business this weekend, Mizzou will be in the driver's seat once again.  This weekend is huge.  It is enormous.  It is a season-making game at this point.  Have

Okie State Preview

Posted by Sheriff Blalock on October 16th, 2009 under Football

If I were Chip Caray, I would spend this post continually making references to this being a "revenge game". (Well that and saying "fisted" every fifth word.) Thankfully, I'm not, so you won't get that angle from me. Just like last week, let's take a look at the gospel of Mizzou football (the free version, anyway), Dave Matter's Behind The Stripes, and specifically at his Behind The Numbers post for

Battlefield Recon – A Look at the Tigers’ Remaining Opponents

NEVADA 2009 Record: 0-2 Last week: L 35-20 @ Colorado State (3-0) This week: Mizzou Nevada’s woes continued in Fort Collins as the Wolf Pack turned the ball over an unbelievable five times.  The WAC preseason offensive player of the year, QB Colin “Bo” Kaepernick, completely shat on himself again throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble.  The Wolf

Battlefield Recon/ Patrick Swayze Tribute

Posted by JR Slim on September 15th, 2009 under Football

Our Tigers survived quite a scare in week 2. Hopefully, they learned some valuable lessons, toughened up mentally, and gained confidence in the late come-back while securing their second win of the year. Meanwhile, our future opponents went 4-4 on the week as Oklahoma State tumbled from their lofty #5 national ranking losing at home to an unranked Houston team and our North Division brethren, Colorado, KSU and Iowa State, embarrassed the rest

Battlefield Recon – A Survey of the Tigers’ Remaining Opponents after Week 1

Posted by JR Slim on September 9th, 2009 under Football

From now to the end of the season, we will take a regular look at Mizzou’s remaining opponents to see what’s poppin’ with the squads still waiting to take their shot at the #25 ranked Tigers. Week 1 saw our non-conference opponents start strong, a once-feared road test at Nevada become more appealing, and our big brothers from the South look fierce. BOWLING GREEN 2009 Record: 1-0 Last week: W 31-14 Troy @ home Next week:

Okie State/Oregon Thoughts

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on December 31st, 2008 under

Just a few thoughts from the Oregon victory over Oklahoma State in the Holiday Bowl. Zac Robinson is one tough SOB.  He got hammered on all night to the point where I'm not sure he knew his own name (we already knew he couldn't spell it).  Pretty good for a pasty white suburbanite who used to think tough was his mom being five minutes late picking him up from the Littleton 16 Cineplex. The beatings made him

OSU or TT? That is the Question

Posted by Roberto Frankfurter on November 7th, 2008 under

Unquestionably, the Big 12 Game of the Week.  So, who should Missouri fans be rooting for?  Texas Tech and here's why:  (1)  With a win tomorrow, TT "only" needs a win in Norman in two weeks to

Unoffical BCS Standings through Week 7

Posted by Euclid on October 13th, 2008 under Football

This is the last week of the unofficial BCS results. Next weekend will mark the first release of the official standings. We are still one computer poll short of a full load, but that shouldn't affect these unofficial standings much, if any. No surprise, Texas and Alabama are first and second in this week's standings. Penn State has crept up to the third spot and now waits for the inevitable slip up by these top two teams

Lessons Learned

Posted by MoJo on October 13th, 2008 under Football

I learned two very important things this weekend, which is one more than normal. Erin Andrews gets totally pissy when you finish in her hair. Like seriously unamused. Less amused than she appears in the only unflattering picture of her in existence. Seriously. If Mizzou is to be a legitimate national championship contender, they should seriously consider handing off to their running backs more than 11 times per game. Seriously.   Unlike Phenomenal, I'm willing to give

So, there was another shoe….

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on October 11th, 2008 under Football

It's about one in the morning, I've got a headache, my ears are ringing, my demanding kids will wake me up in the matter of a few hours, and I just drove the long and lonely drive home from Columbia. I expected to lose this year, but not to Oklahoma State at home. Very frustrating game. Pinkel set the suck tone early by going for a field goal at the 1 yard line after
