Gene Claude and I predicted probabilities for all the upcoming games and determined the following probabilities for our Big 12 tourney seed: 2 seed 17% 3 seed 26% 4 seed 27% 5 seed 24%

Big XII Bye – Down But Not Out!

Posted by Euclid on February 15th, 2010 under Uncategorized

The Baylor game was very disappointing. Pull out that win and we are in the driver's seat for a bye in the first round of the Big XII tournament. Following the game I figured we had virtually no chance of finishing in the top 4 given our challenging remaining schedule and poor tie-breaker position vis-à-vis Baylor and Texas A&M. But after just a few minutes of homework I have a renewed faith in the Tigers

Predict-a-North – 4 Games to Go

Posted by Euclid on November 2nd, 2009 under Football

With 4 games to go (unless you are an ISU or KSU fan--they have 3 games left) the division is wide open.  All 6 teams still have a chance to win the North but only two teams--Kansas State and Nebraska--control their own destiny.  While 4 games might not seem like that many, when you put it all together its 16,384 permutations--that's a lot and damn hard to figure out what can happen. There are over 1200 possible

Toofer Picks – Week 5

Posted by Euclid on October 3rd, 2009 under Football

You are going to have to trust me on this, while not published the toofers have been making weekly picks this season and doing a pretty good job of it.  Through four weeks we have accurately picked 66% of the games against the spread, including an astounding 92% against the spread last week. Week 5 has a limited slate of games to chose from.  Farmageddon Four of our pickers this week like Iowa State

Almost Official BCS Standings

Posted by Euclid on September 28th, 2009 under Football

BCS Guru has put together a preliminary BCS poll based on the human polls and 4 of the 6 computer polls.  He also points out some very valid criticisms of the human polls.  It would usually be this time of the year where I start to point out how schools like Boise State won't be able to get an at large bid because their strength of schedule is so weak and they are ranked so

Predict-a-North

Posted by Euclid on September 22nd, 2009 under Football

I don’t think you can find a person who would call the Big 12 North anything but a three team race for the title, but exactly how close is that race?  I decided to try to figure it out. Using the original PredictaTron theories about how betting lines translate to win/loss probabilities (see bottom of post for more details) I developed a model to forecast the outcome of the Big 12 North race.  To simplify the model I

New Tigers News Site

Posted by Euclid on September 15th, 2009 under Uncategorized

At today's KC Tiger Club meeting Dave Matter told the audience about a new site the Columbia Tribune was launching to focus exclusively on Mizzou sports.  TigerExtra.com Dave billed it as one-stop shopping for all your Mizzou sports news. Dave mentioned it should be up and running later this week or sometime next week but it appears to be fully operational today. Based on my quick perusal it looks like this will include all Dave Matter

It’s Just Math – PredictaCoach

Posted by Euclid on March 31st, 2009 under Uncategorized

Everyone's talking about whether Mizzou will pay Anderson or whether we will let him walk. There's lots of speculation including people saying there is no way that Mizzou could match an offer like the $2M per year Georgia has reportedly offered Anderson. I think it is foolish to rule out any scenario without considering the math. A problem like this needs a well thought out solution. Thankfully I'm not Mike Alden so I don't have to

Cowboy…Cowboy…

Well I'm packing up my game and I'm a head out West Where real women come equipped with scripts and fake breasts... That's what the Tigers and many of the other potential 1 through 4 seeds in this year's tournament should be preparing for.  Why?  Well because the NCAA insists on spreading the wealth when doling out NCAA tournament locations.  Of the 8 first round sites, 2 (25%) are in the West (Portland and Boise).  How does that compare to

PredictaBig12OneSeed

Posted by Euclid on February 23rd, 2009 under Uncategorized

AtomicTeeth is proud to announce the birth of PredictaBig12OneSeed, the heinous offspring of an incestuous relationship between distant cousins PredictaTron and PredictaSeed.  PaB12OS was inspired by our friends at RockMNation who used the Ken Pomeroy ratings (a man who has serious love for our Tigers) to determine the probabilities that MU, OU or KU would get the number one seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament.  In a desire to empower the masses

Take the Good with the Bad

Posted by Euclid on December 23rd, 2008 under Basketball

I guess like many things in life, people (by people I mean Mizzou fans) seem to only remember and recall the really bad things that have happend to them (me included).  In this case I am talking about the stunning defeats...5th down, flea kicker, Tyus Edney... This post is intended to bring back what should be some of the fondest memories of any Tiger fan.  Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the one of Norm Stewart's
