Week one is in the books – a strong one for the Big 12. Only OU and CU lost, while Mizzou and Baylor pulled off upsets. KSU and ISU lived up to expectations by letting D1A teams hang with them. A&M exceed expectations by obliterating New Mexico and Okie State scored a big one for the conference by offing an SEC powerhouse. UT, KU, NU, and TT easily handled their weak opponents. Week two is a less sexy slate, with just one conference team facing another BCS team. Here are the early lines:
MU -17 bowling green
cu -3.5 TOLEDO
ISU +7 iowa
NU -24 ark. st.
OSU -14.5 houston
ut -33 WYOMING
ksu -7 ULL
TT -25 rice
ku -11 UTEP
OU off idaho state
A&M and Baylor are exhausted after one week and are taking byes.
Four Big 12 teams are on the road visiting non-BCS conference schools. That’s got to be a record for one week. Of note, Colorado is taking a short week after having played on Sunday by playing at Toledo on Friday night. That’s just dumb. For CU’s sake, I hope it turns out better than the last time a Big 12 team ventured to Toledo for a Friday night game – Kerry Meier still aches from that game.
K-State visits the Ragin’ Cajuns, which may cause problems for the Wildcats. Last year K-State struggled with ULL in Manhattan, winning by just 8 and giving up 335 yards on the ground. After the Snyders beat the Minutemen by 4 at home, there’s no telling what the Cajuns will do to them down on the bayou.
Happy wagering.

I’m excited to see the sexy game plan Dave Christensen brings to Austin this year. I’m inclined to lay the points.
Congrats to ex-OC DC though, 1st head coaching win over Weber St. Saturday. Pinkel’s coaching tree has officially sprouted a limb.

I believe the Cajuns lost a ton of talent from last year’s team. I don’t know a thing about Toledo, anyone? What is the O/U on that KU/UTEP game? That could be a high scoring affair.
I’m a bit alarmed that KU was able to run the ball so well last weekend, although, from what I understand, they faced a lot of 3 man fronts.

Chet, UT is actually going to Laramie. I bet Dave is excited about seeing Colt, et al. again.
Gene, Mizzou lost a lot of talent from last year too. ULL is all about reloading these days.

Gene, I don’t know anything about Toledo other than they’ll throw about 50 times. But after watching that CU-CSU game, it’s hard to picture the Buffs as a favorite in anything.
