PredictaSeed 1.0

Posted by Euclid on February 16th, 2009 under Basketball

AtomicTeeth is proud to announce the arrival of PredictaSeed 1.0, distant cousin to Predictatron and Predictawhale

PredictaSeed allows you to quickly evaluate potential Big 12 Tournament seeds and matchups by speculating on the outcome of the remaining Big 12 regular season games.

I made my guesses as to how the games will play out, but you can make your own by editing the yellow cells below.  Once you have adjusted the outcomes scroll to the bottom of the page to see the tournament seeds.  These seeds factor in the Big 12 tie-breaking procedures (at least I hope they do).

Unfortunately I have had to rely on a couple of my AT cronies to test the model, if you find that things aren’t working out as you would have expected, just comment below and we will address them.

Notes:

  • Please be sure to type the team name in exactly as it appears in the cells to the left of the yellow cell.
  • Press F9 after making your edits to be sure the spreadsheet updates.
  • Refresh your browser if you would like to undo your edits and return to my preset predictions.
  • If seeds change everytime you press F9 or the browser refreshes it is because teams are tied and the random draw final tie-breaker is changing.

Have fun.

  1. One thing … you have your 107-62 win over Colorado as a MO L. That’s throwing off the W-L on the brackets.

    Otherwise, awesome work.

  2. Euclid, you are a mad genius, this is awesome….wish you had done this years ago when we were frantically buying and selling tickets for the KC Big 12 tourneys.

That reminds me, does anyone know the future Big 12 tourney sites? It needs to be in KC permanently.

  3. Thanks ponderos. I fixed the MU CU game.

I think it is in KC next year. I think we might be on a OKC / KC rotation. Seems like Dallas might get a shot every once in a while as well.

  4. Fuck that noise. Dallas should be permanently out. OKC can have it once a decade. No offense, Ponderos. To me, the Big 12 tourney moving out of KC is tantamount to OKC getting the Cotton Bowl.

  5. It’s in KC in 2010 and 2011, but I don’t know if anything’s been awarded past that.

Tell you what … you guys get it in your home state one year, we get it in our home state the next, deal?

Actually, I’ve heard that Jerry’$ going to make a play for it in Arlington and what Jerry want$, Jerry u$ually get$.

  6. The balance of power in basketball is a little better for the north, what with ISU, KU and KSU all having big fan contingents. I’m hoping that will keep it out of Texas at the least. My understanding is there were many promises made to KC when it left to the effect of “get it out of Kemper and you can have it back.”

  7. GC: I hope you’re right, because it belongs in Kansas City. Like you, I’m willing to give OKC a shot every once in a while, but it has no business ever being in Texas again. Anyone wanting to argue that should take a look at the tapes of those games and/or the actual attendance figures.

  8. I’m too biased to be rational on this. The Big 8/12 tourney in KC was the functional equivalent of St. Pat’s, Christmas and Spring Break for me every year. And now, with the Sprint Center and the P&L District, the city is finally in a position to host a first class event.

  9. I should say I’d be fine if the football championship was never in KC. Arrowhead is a great venue for the actual game, but with nothing at all around it, I’d just as soon fly to San Antonio or Dallas for the game.

  10. I ran through a few scenarios.

    Thanks, PredictaSeed!

    Proposal:

Big XII hoops tourney permanently in KC.

Big XII football championship permanently at JerryWorld.

  12. Sold!

Seriously, and this is probably illegal to say in KC, but Arrowhead blows. Fuck them for building stadia a zillion miles from the small fun parts of here. Send it to Jerryworld, or OKC, or Tulsa, or Amarillo, I don’t care. I’ll go every year we are in it regardless.

  13. So, the men’s basketball tournament starts on Wednesday and concludes Saturday this year. Is this the first they’ve done this?

I think they did that (Wed-Sat) so we wouldn’t get confused when we weren’t playing on Thursday.

  15. I updated the projections through the KU vs. OU game. Mizzou moves into second place with a victory over OU (assumes loss to KU).
