Freeman going pro

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on January 1st, 2009 under Football

Josh Freeman is forgoing his senior year to enter the draft.

Crazy that a guy who isn’t even in the top 50th percentile of QBs in his own conference is told that he’s an early second round draft pick.  He’s happy footed and inaccurate.  In conference play he completed just 55% of his passes, threw 9 TDs and 6 INTs, yet he’s a pro scout’s wet dream.  He had the 11th best passer rating in conference play, yet he’s going to play on Sundays.  Go figure.

I don’t blame him in the least for leaving.  K State isn’t going to be more talented next year and he might just get himself killed.  I do wonder, though, if Freeman could have turned into a good QB under the tutelage of genius Bill Snyder and the new OC.  Would have stood a better chance than with Prince anyway.

Does this mean Chase Coffman’s little brother will be the Wildcats’ starting QB?

  1. For all I know, he may end up being great, but I simply can’t understand how anyone could watch him play over the last three years and assume that he’ll ever be anything more than a fat guy with a clipboard.

  2. In three years of watching Freeman against Mizzou, I have seen him attempt more passes to Missouri defenders than his own players, and I’m not even exaggerating. It has been stunning how many near-INTs he’s thrown against us. More than the rest of the Big 12 combined.
