Okie State/Oregon Thoughts

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on December 31st, 2008 under Uncategorized

Just a few thoughts from the Oregon victory over Oklahoma State in the Holiday Bowl.

  • Zac Robinson is one tough SOB.  He got hammered on all night to the point where I’m not sure he knew his own name (we already knew he couldn’t spell it).  Pretty good for a pasty white suburbanite who used to think tough was his mom being five minutes late picking him up from the Littleton 16 Cineplex.
  • The beatings made him erratic in the second half – he was about as accurate as Rick Ankiel circa 2000.
  • Z-Rob and I share a birthday.  I can call him that because we share a birthday.
  • Dez Bryant was a treat to watch early.  Then his knee exploded and watching him became painful because I kept waiting for it to explode again.  Finally they took him out, only to have him run a post route for the last OSU play of the game – I’m sure he was told not to cut.  Zac missed him, just like he was missing everyone else.
  • I hope Yost was watching the game.  Oregon had dozens of effective running plays from the shotgun using both tailbacks and the QB.
  • I hope Yost was watching the game.  Okie State actually threw the ball downfield a lot early and having success.
  • Oregon would have killed Mizzou if we’d played like we did against Northwestern.  Oregon has great athletes, lots of team speed, and often an all Jeremiah backfield.
  • Oregon’s QB, Masoli, looks like a shorter version of Chase Daniel.  If I’d ever seen any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I’d make a joke about how Masoli was a one of the shorter trolls or elves or dwarfs or whatever the hell they’re called.  Since I haven’t, I’ll crack wise that Masoli reminds me of Bashful, who I deem to be the shortest of Snow White’s harem.
  • Oregon’s Blount hurdled a guy.  The announcers talked of players who hurdle.  The announcers didn’t mention Chase Coffman.  We’re so far off the radar it’s not even funny.
  • I saw not one iota of Oregon’s Chris Harper.
  • Erin Andrews started the game with her hair down, but ended with it pulled back.  I love her versatility and adaptability.

Big 12 is now 1-1.  The dream of a perfect bowl season has been dashed by Gundy’s boys.  Way to go, Pokes.

  1. I enjoyed Jessie Palmer making some homoerotic statements abotu Masoli’s legs, too.
