Non-Conference Schedule Analysis

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on December 9th, 2008 under Football

I have a legal pad filled with college football research ideas and data.  One of those ideas is “conferences’ non-con schedules.”  I’m happy to report that I can cross this off my list without doing a thing.  srr50 at Barking Carnival put together some interesting numbers and analysis regarding conference scheduling tendencies and results.  Check it out.

A Look at BCS Non-Conference Results

So I can feel like I’m adding something to the discussion, here are Mizzou’s future non-con opponents.

2009 – Illinois, Bowling Green, Nevada, TBA
2010 – Illinois, McNeese State, TBA, TBA
2011 – Wyoming, Western Illinois, TBA, TBA
2012 – Wyoming, TBA, TBA, TBA
2013 – Toledo, TBA, TBA, TBA
2014 – Toledo, TBA, TBA, TBA

Recall that we were supposed to have a home and home with SMU in ‘09 and ‘10, but the renewal of the KU at Arrowhead contract meant we needed an extra home game to make it six at Faurot.  I’m sure we’ll fill that with some 1-AA school in ‘09, but in ‘10 it will probably be a 1-A team since we have McNeese State scheduled.

Mizzou isn’t doing a whole lot to strengthen the Big 12’s non-con sched reputation.
