Lines We Care About (Oct. 18 Edition)

Posted by Phenomenal Smith on October 13th, 2008 under Football

I’m going to keep this simple and, for now, focus solely on the Big 12. I can’t see beyond the immediate for our boys in black and gold and am scaling back my global attention paying to a more regional approach. I also no longer care what Illinois, Nevada, and Buffalo do since they were all favorites last week and they all lost. Screw them. Just not a good Tiger week.

Before the lines, I want to ask: How can the Flyin’ Hawaiian not be your favorite baseball player? Seriously.

UT -7 mu
OU -18 ku
nu -5.5 ISU
tt -21 A&M
CU -2.5 ksu
OSU -16.5 bu

Seven points? Wow. Had Chase driven the Tigers to victory against the Cowboys, I’d be sitting here thinking 7 was about right. Had the Tigers done what I thought they’d do – beat OSU without any drama – I’d have guessed the number would be about 4, Tigers still the ‘dog. I’m surprised we aren’t unfavored by at least 10.

I’m also surprised OSU is only a 16.5 favorite over Baylor in Stillwater. We’re talking about the odds on favorites for national champions here…. What’s Vegas thinking?

  1. There is not an easy line in that bunch.

  2. I love Cougars!!!

Also, does anyone know who won the BYU game last night?

  3. GC, I like you, so I’ll just give you this Horn friendly advice. Go against your God forsaken Mizzou Tiggar LOGIC and bet all of your paltry life savings on the Horns. A line like that is a gimme. Either Vegas is outta of their minds, or there are alot folks out there who have caught this “claptrap” LOGIC disease of yours and are going to end up losing the shirts on their backs. As we all know, Vegas never loses money.

See what TCU did to BYU the other day. To me, it was just a preview of what our Horn D is going to do Mizzou on Saturday. BYU’s lack of speed and athletes was telling; Mizzou’s will be also.

OSU and BU will be a game. It may not be a nail biter but I doubt if it will end in a blow out. OSU is just not that good. They are sort of athletic for a B12 team, but then that is not saying much. This is the same team that gave up 28 points to a lousy and turnover prone Aggie club — which is not good or impressive. Baylor is way better than the Ags this year. I expect this game to stay within 14 points or so. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if BU upsets OSU. BU has gotten better and the B12 in general sucks.

Look for TT to put a hurting on the Ags. They will probably score in the 60’s to 70’s. I say the odds of them beating the line is pretty good. The Ags totally suck on D this year and their O is inconsistent as hell.
