ESPN and others are confirming the rumors that Ron Prince made his D run 38 50 yard windsprints at 3 a.m. upon returning from Louisville last week. The players were instructed not to tell their parents … reminds me of Arthur Carlson’s role on Diff’rent Strokes. Poor Dudley. Alas, this comes just hours after Prince blamed himself for his team’s ineptitude. I doubt he ran the sprints. I guess he believes if he’d just had them run these windsprints before the game, all would have turned out grand.
This paradox is an example of my general feelings on Coach Prince. I watch his show, hear his general philosophies and think “this dude’s got it together. I can see him succeed.” He sounds smart, thoughtful, in control. Then, his coaching staff changes almost daily, I hear rumors of players’ revolts and his code of silence, and I wonder what the hell he’s doing. And then he brings in 19 JUCOs and you just know that can’t work.
The tyrant lost his team last year, if not before, and has no idea how to get it back. As a Tiger fan, that contract extension is looking better and better.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand what KSU is doing here. How can it be this readily apparent that a coaching hire is an unmitigated disaster, yet the Wildcat braintrust thinks things are fine? Anecdotally, I have not heard one Cat fan that is ready to endorse Prince. I think KSU is likely headed back to the Mariana Trench of college football. Wish they’d take KU….

I really think their program (athletics – not just football) went south when Wefald promoted his crony Bob Krause to Director of Athletics following the departure of Weiser to the Big 12 offices. For crying out loud this guy makes $225,000 as a long-time school administrator who inherits the athletics department as if it were some throw away department. I have heard multiple stories from people close to the program including “Wefald is a joke and is just looking out for his friend” and “KSU athletics is in the midst of a massive capital raising campaign and Krause was the only choice to see that to completion.” I don’t know what to believe, but I am pretty sure KSU will be an afterthought in Big 12 athletics for the foreseeable future.
